Ouzounian, designed by Sayed Karim, was built in 1950 for Madame Marcelle Ouzounian. The distinct, 14-storey building, once the tallest building in Cairo, was one of many architectural embodiments of the modernist movement that began to flourish in Cairo in the 1930s.
